The Advice Gap 2023

In May 2023, the lang cat published the findings of its research into the advice gap in the UK and the team discussed the findings in this webinar.

/ The Summary

Over the course of a couple of months, we carried out consumer research to understand the impact of the cost of living crisis on consumers’ savings and investments, and wider spending habits. We also looked at perceptions of value for money.

We spoke to our panel of advice and planning professionals too, to get their take on the problem.

This all came together in the form of the Advice Gap 2023 report from the lang cat and the team got together to discuss the key findings in this webinar.

While we’re here we’d like to thank the sponsors of the report: Aviva, M&G Wealth, Aegon and Fidelity, as we wouldn’t have been able to put any of this together without them. With their generosity, the report is free to download.

The Impact of Poor Service

We provided the research for a report, in conjunction with Parmenion, which reveals how far short of expectations many adviser platforms are falling. The research found that over the last 12 months, 88% of advisers needed to apologise to at least one of their clients on behalf of a platform, and that poor service delivery from platforms impacts 91% of advisers every day.

Answering the Call

Service means a lot of things to a lot of different people. It’s so subjective it can be hard to put your finger on. This paper aims to challenge the status quo and inertia that’s built up in the sector for many years.
