Whether platforms prefund (invest funds that haven’t cleared yet) can be a bigger deal that it sounds. Out of market time is reduced and with it, the risk of clients missing out on growth. In the paper, we take a look at situations where prefunding can come into play and the difference it can make to investors. That done, we run through who of the main advised platforms do and don’t offer prefunding across these situations.

The research found that over the last 12 months, 88% of advisers needed to apologise to at least one of their clients on behalf of a platform, and that poor service delivery from platforms impacts 91% of advisers every day.
