THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE WANTS PAYING IN ADVANCE

Well, after last week’s sojourn away from financial services and into mental health awareness it’s back to earth with a bump. Incidentally, if you haven’t had a chance to watch our special HomeGames with Paul Feeney of Quilter then you can do that here. I will remember that session for a very long time and […]

THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE SAYS BOO TO TABOOS

Well hello again, and I hope you are finding the bright side in a week where everything moved at warp speed from decidedly suboptimal to post-apocalyptic. If you’re finding that hard to do then you’re not alone, and we have some stuff for you. This is another one of those Updates which isn’t to do […]

THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE WANTS WHAT YOU WANT

What would you keep and what would you like to leave behind when all this is over? We can probably all agree that daily 5pm briefings and obsessing about the ravings of a madman about ingesting domestic cleaning products are best left in the past, but when we go back to business as usual, will […]

THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE IS GETTING NERVOUS ABOUT DEADx

Hello everyone. Well, the week is finally here when I stop punting our annual DeadX conference, because this is the week when we do the conference and then go for a lie down. In fact it’s tomorrow. So my mind is all full of what we’re going to be talking about at The DeadX Talks, […]

THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT ADVICE IS ANY MORE

Back from half term, just as you all go off on yours. In a week where timescales have proved to be pretty contentious, it’s tempting to make a political crack about that, but I’m going to resist. So let’s just Get Update Done and I think if we all really put our own agendas to […]

THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE HASN’T EVEN GOT A YACHT

If you switch the radio off, and get everyone in the office to shush, and the cars outside to stop, and the children to stop playing, and the wind to drop, you can just, if you try really, really hard and perhaps get your ears syringed a bit, hear the world’s smallest violin, wielded by […]

THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE NEEDS NO WET SIGNATURES

Here we are again, siblings. Did you know that 2019 is 70% complete? I’m rounding up, it’s only 69.6% and we won’t go through 70% until Saturday, but I’ve always said that spurious accuracy in whimsical yet informative financial services weekly Updates is unnecessary and overrated. Although, to be completely accurate, the nature and quantum […]

THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE ALWAYS SITS UP STRAIGHT

A shorter Update from me this week, mainly because instead of writing it last night like I normally do, I was up late ending myself with laughter at coverage of the House of Commons. All this uncertainty makes me think more than ever about the value of having someone who can give the longer term […]

THE TOP CLASS WEDNESDAY UPDATE ALWAYS STATES ITS VALUE

It is a truth universally acknowledged that I know absolutely hee-haw about football. Not only don’t I know anything about it, such is my fear of hypermasculine conversations about it that I’ve been known to offer to go to the bar when the subject comes up. Which is odd, as the game I really follow […]

The Impact of Poor Service

We provided the research for a report, in conjunction with Parmenion, which reveals how far short of expectations many adviser platforms are falling. The research found that over the last 12 months, 88% of advisers needed to apologise to at least one of their clients on behalf of a platform, and that poor service delivery from platforms impacts 91% of advisers every day.

Answering the Call

Service means a lot of things to a lot of different people. It’s so subjective it can be hard to put your finger on. This paper aims to challenge the status quo and inertia that’s built up in the sector for many years.
